WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (AFP) — France's Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was on Wednesday ruled out of this weekend's Davis Cup quarter-final because of a right knee injury.
Tsonga, who beat world number one Roger Federer on his way to the Aussie Open final, has been replaced by Arnaud Clement for the tie that gets underway here on Friday.
"Tsonga felt pain in his right knee which was similar to the pain he felt playing doubles in Miami last week," said a statement from the French Tennis Federation (FFT).
Clement will team up with Michael Llodra in the doubles while Richard Gasquet and Paul-Henri Mathieu will play the singles rubbers.
