WALNUT, California (AFP) — World 100 metre champion Veronica Campbell cruised to victory in the 200 metres Sunday at the Mount San Antonio College Relays.
The Jamaican speedster clocked 22.66 seconds thanks to a favourable tailwind.
Campbell finished just ahead of American Carmelita Jeter (22.86) and Torri Edwards (23.03) in the first race of the Olympic season.
American world champion Tyson Gay and rising star Alyson Felix ran in the relay events.
World record holder in the 100 metres, Jamaican Asafa Powell was present at the Los Angeles-area meet but did not compete.
