Forbidden Kingdom kung fu kicks to top of US box office

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — "The Forbidden Kingdom," the first movie pairing of martial arts legends Jackie Chan and Jet Li, punched its way atop the North American box office on its debut weekend, industry data showed Monday.
According to figures from Exhibitor Relations, the Hollywood production about a kung fu-obsessed US teenager who journeys to China for high-kicking high jinks raked in 21.4 million dollars from Friday to Sunday.
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" made its debut at number two with US and Canadian takings of 17.7 million dollars. The film featuring British comedian Russell Brand bills itself as "the world's first romantic disaster comedy."
