Nicholls wins again as Beef or Salmon comes off the menu

DUBLIN (AFP) — Paul Nicholls seemingly unstoppable bandwagon in winning the major races continued here at Punchestown racecourse on Wednesday as his Neptune Collonges became the first horse to win the Guinness Gold Cup in back-to-back years.

The 9/10 favourite, who was third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup behind two other Nicholls runners, eased home by seven lengths under Ruby Walsh, landing the feature event on the second day of the Punchestown Festival just as he did for Nicholls on the first day of Ireland's version of the Cheltenham one.

Snowy Morning, third in the Grand National, took second at 12/1 while Mossbank was third at 7/2.
