Eurozone current account climbs back into surplus: ECB

FRANKFURT (AFP) — The eurozone payments current account showed an estimated surplus of 4.3 billion euros (6.8 billion dollars) in February, after a deficit of 7.9 billion in January, the European Central Bank said on Wednesday.
The current account is the eurozone's widest measure of eurozone trade and financial transactions with countries outside the 15-nation area, but ECB estimates are often subject to marked revisions, making comparisons difficult.
The January deficit had initially be forecast at 10.6 billion euros, for example.
The February data "reflected surpluses in goods (3.1 billion euros) and services (5.1 billion euros), which were partly compensated for by a deficit in current transfers (4.3 billion euros), the bank said in a statement.
