Unilever, Procter and Gamble in British consumer watchdog probe: report

LONDON (AFP) — Two giant household products firms were contacted by Britain's consumer watchdog over a probe that also includes four of the country's biggest supermarket chains, the Financial Times said Monday.
According to the business daily, which quoted a Procter and Gamble spokesperson, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) paid a visit to the US multinational on Thursday, while Anglo-Dutch rival Unilever and chocolate bar seller Mars received letters on Friday from the OFT to arrange a visit.
The OFT has thus far declined to comment on the inquiry, but the Financial Times said it was to do with price-fixing between supermarkets and their suppliers.
