Moto GP star Lorenzo back riding despite fractured ankle

SHANGHAI (AFP) — Moto GP championship leader Jorge Lorenzo was back riding Saturday despite fracturing his left ankle one day earlier in a crash in practice at the China Grand Prix in Shanghai.
The Spanish rookie rode in the hour-long morning session ahead of qualifying with a chipped bone caused by a nasty fall during practice on Friday.
Claudio Macchiagodena, a doctor who examined the 20-year-old, said Lorenzo's biggest challenge was not the fracture, but managing the pain in his right leg which suffered heavy bruising in the crash.
"The big problem I think is the right ankle, where there isn't any fracture," said Macchiagodena.
