PARIS (AFP) — Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva will take part in the Rome leg of the Golden League series on July 11 next, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) confirmed Monday.
"This year is very important for me and I hope it will be unforgetable. I'll make my debut in competition on July 11 in Rome but I won't compete in too many meets. I want to be in top form in Beijing," the Russian said.
Isinbayeva is the world record holder indoors (4.95m) and outdoors (5.01m).
She won the event last year in Rome clearing 4.90m.
