LONDON (AFP) — Britain's Prince William is to join a Royal Navy operation patrolling for drug runners in the Caribbean, a media report said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Defence declined to confirm the report on the Daily Mirror's website. British ships are routinely sent to the Caribbean to help clamp down on the drug trade in the region.
The 25-year-old William, who is second-in-line to the throne, has been expected to take up an attachment with the Royal Navy at the start of June after four months training with the Royal Air Force.
Drug running is a major problem in Caribbean waters around islands like Trinadad and Tobago, as drug dealers transport their cargos between South America and North America or Europe.
