NFL Bills release once-paralyzed Everett

BUFFALO, New York (AFP) — The Buffalo Bills cut Kevin Everett from their roster Tuesday but the National Football League club made it clear that he will remain in their thoughts for years to come.

The Bills placed Everett on the NFL's failed physical list as a result of the catastrophic spinal injury he suffered in last September's season opener, a near-fatal mishap that left him temporarily paralyzed from the neck down.

"The Buffalo Bills continue to be moved by Kevin Everett's heart-warming story of his recovery," the Bills said in a statement.

"Kevin will always remain a Buffalo Bill in the same way that Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and so many others before him are held in the highest regard by our franchise."
