Four killed in Israeli raids on Gaza

GAZA CITY (AFP) — Four Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, medics said, as US President George W. Bush landed in Israel on the first leg of a Middle East tour.
Three Palestinians were killed during clashes with Israeli troops east of the northern town and refugee camp of Jabaliya, according to Muawiya Hassanein, the head of Gaza emergency services.
Witnesses said two of the men were militants from the Islamist Hamas movement that has ruled the Gaza Strip since June last year.
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed the incident, saying troops targeted Palestinian gunmen near the fence that surrounds the impoverished territory.
