Massa 'amazed' at Monaco GP pole

MONACO (AFP) — An amazed Felipe Massa conceded Saturday that he could not believe he had secured pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix on a circuit he said he 'hated'.

The 27-year-old Brazilian clocked the fastest time ahead of defending world champion Kimi Raikkonen, the Ferrari duo outpacing the two McLaren drivers in the final minutes of a dramatic shootout.

"I still cannot believe this has happened and I am on pole," said Massa.

"This is incredible. I still do not like this circuit much because it is so difficult and it is not my kind of track.

"It is so difficult to get a clear lap in Monaco, a perfect lap, but today I managed to have one and I was very lucky."
