Saudi reformist on hunger strike in custody: wife

DUBAI (AFP) — Leading Saudi reformist Matruk al-Faleh has been on hunger strike since he was taken into custody last week, his wife said on Monday.
"He only drinks water, and is being injected with nutrition shots (by police) to compensate for the lack of food... He has lost weight and is suffering from high blood pressure," Jamila al-Ukalaa told AFP by telephone.
She said her husband had not eaten since his arrest on May 19.
Ukalaa said saw Faleh on Saturday after tracking him down to the Haer prison south of Riyadh. She said she had been searched for him in different prisons because the police had not informed her of his whereabouts.
