Another 14 golfers set for US Open

FAR HILLS, New Jersey (AFP) — Fourteen more pro golfers booked direct entry into next month's US Open championship by virtue of their top-50 spots in the World Rankings as of Monday, the US Golf Association said on Tuesday.

A total of 72 golfers are now fully exempt from qualifying for the second major championship of the year, which will be played June 12-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.

Those who earned full exemptions through the current world rankings were Australian Stuart Appleby, J.B. Holmes, Spain's weekend winner of the BMW PGA championships Miguel Angel Jimenez, Sweden's Robert Karlsson, Germany's Martin Kaymer, Anthony Kim, Justin Leonard, Sean O'Hair, Aussie Rod Pampling, England's Ian Poulter, Jeff Quinney, Canadian Mike Weir and...
