MELBOURNE (AFP) — Australian Anthony 'The Man' Mundine retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight title by beating compatriot Sam Soliman in a unanimous points decision here Wednesday.
Mundine won on every judges' card, 116-112, 116-112, 117-112 in his fourth title defence.
It improved the 33-year-old Mundine's record to 32 wins in 35 bouts, 23 by knockout, with three defeats.
It was also the third time Mundine had beaten Soliman. He beat Soliman in a ninth-round KO in Sydney in March last year and also beat him in a split points decision in Wollongong, Australia, in 2001.
Soliman's record now stands at 35 wins with 11 defeats.
