Canucks defenceman Bourdon killed in motorcycle smash

FREDERICTON, Canada (AFP) — Luc Bourdon, who helped Canada win a gold medal at the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships, was killed aged 21 in a motorcycle accident on Thursday.
The Vancouver Canucks rising star died when his motorcycle collided with a lorry on a rural highway outside of Lemaque, New Brunswick, 870 kilometres (540 miles) northeast of Montreal.
Bourdon was the Canucks' first-round pick (10th overall) in the 2005 National Hockey League's entry draft.
