Greenpeace says ship harassed by tuna fishermen

ANKARA (AFP) — A Greenpeace ship protesting the overfishing of bluefin tuna was targetted Friday by fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea, a spokeswoman for the environmental group told the Anatolia news agency.

Five boats blocked the way of Dutch-flagged Arctic Sunrise between Turkey's southern coast and Cyprus and their crew fired shots in the air and hurled stones and other objects at the ship, Yesim Aslan said.

No one was injured in the incident, she said, adding that Greenpeace had requested help from the Turkish coast guard.

She said the boats were manned by bluefin tuna fishermen.
