CINCINNATI, Ohio (AFP) — Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. blasted his 599th career home run in the first inning against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
With a runner on first base and one out, Griffey hit a Jair Jurrjens' pitch over the wall in right field.
Griffey, 38, needs one more homer to join Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa as the sixth player in baseball history to reach 600 for his career.
