Triple Crown hopeful Big Brown runs final workout ahead of Belmont

ELMONT, New York (AFP) — Triple Crown contender Big Brown ran his final major workout as his preparations for the Belmont Stakes continued on Tuesday.

Showing no signs of a slight quarter crack to his front left hoof, Big Brown breezed five furlongs in 1:00 over the main track. With regular exercise rider Michelle Nevin aboard, he galloped out six furlongs in 1:14 2/5.

"I feel very good. I was not expecting to see anything other than what we saw," trainer Rick Dutrow said.

"But still, you've got to go through it. We jumped over a big hurdle today, and I feel very good."

After cruising to a 4 3/4-length victory in the Kentucky Derby on May 3, Big Brown won the Preakness Stakes two weeks later by 5 1/4 lengths, setting the stage for his potential date...
