Three US soldiers killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AFP) — Three American soldiers were killed by small arms fire near the northern Iraqi oil city of Kirkuk on Wednesday, the US military said.
The attack took place in the mainly Sunni Arab town of Hawijah west of Kirkuk, the military said.
"The names of the deceased are being withheld pending next of kin notification and release by the (US) department of defence," a statement said.
The deaths raised to 4,090 the number of US troops killed in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, according to an AFP tally based on the independent website www.icasualties.org.
Wednesday's attack produced the highest single loss for American troops since four marines died in a mine attack in the former Sunni rebel bastion of Anbar province, west of Baghdad, on May 4....
