Phelps nabs two golds at US swimming trial tuneups

OMAHA, Nebraska (AFP) — Michael Phelps has nabbed two gold medals at the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational, which is giving US Olympic hopefuls a look at the venue for the upcoming Olympic trials.
Phelps's victories in the US grand prix event on Friday expanded his points lead in the eight meet series.
Phelps edged out the field in the 100m free to win in 48.56. Nathan Adrian was second in 49.00 and Joel Greenshields was third in 49.08.
Phelps second win of the night came in the 100m fly with a time of 51.04. Japan's Masayuki Kishida was second in 52.56 and Milorad Cavic of Serbia was third in 52.76.
Kate Ziegler, winner of the 1,500m free on Thursday, picked up her second gold medal of the meet with a victory in the women's 400m free.
