'Kung Fu Panda' fights its way to top of box office

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Animated children's film "Kung Fu Panda" kicked and chopped its way to the top of the North American box office over the weekend, outmuscling a former Israeli spy in the process.

The adventures of Po, a kindly panda forced to become a kung-fu master to save his jungle from leopard villains, reeled in 60.2 million dollars in earnings on its opening weekend, final figures out Monday showed.

The film, which features the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and Dustin Hoffman, has received broadly favorable reviews since opening.
