The penalty was totally unjustified, says Beenhakker

VIENNA (AFP) — Poland's veteran Dutch coach Leo Beenhakker said on Thursday that the injury-time penalty awarded against his side which gave Austria a 1-1 draw in their Euro 2008 Group B clash was totally unjustified.

The 65-year-old stormed onto the pitch at the final whistle furious with English referee Howard Webb's decision which has left his team needing to beat Croatia in their final match on Monday to have any hope of progressing to the last eight.

"It (penalty) was totally unjustified," said Beenhakker, who has coached sides as diverse as Holland and Trinidad and Tobago.

"What was happening in the penalty box as they prepared to take the freekick is nothing different to what has been going on for the past five years.
