Austrian Airlines ups fuel surcharge again

VIENNA (AFP) — Austrian Airlines (AUA) said on Friday it was raising again its fuel surcharge on all flights as a result of the continuing rise in fuel prices.

AUA said in a statement the surcharge on short- and medium-haul flights would be increased by three euros to 24 euros (37 dollars) per ticket with effect from next week.

Passengers on long-haul routes would see an additional 10 euros added to their ticket price, with the fuel surcharge rising from 82 euros to 92 euros, the statement said.

It was the second time in a month that AUA has raised its fuel surcharges and follows similar moves by rival carriers such as Lufthansa, Air Berlin and Air France this week.

The new surcharges would come into effect from June 18, AUA said.
