Daimler says it will build an auto factory in Hungary

FRANKFURT (AFP) — The German auto manufacturer Daimler is to build a new factory in Hungary at a cost of some 800 million euros (1.2 billion dollars) to boost production of smaller models, it said on Wednesday.

Daimler planned to build the plant in Kecskemet, 80 kilometers (miles) southeast of Budapest, a statement said.

At the same time, Daimler would invest 600 million euros in a German factory which produces Mercedes class A and B models, it added.
