Spain's Oscar winner Javier Bardem is honoured at home

MADRID (AFP) — Four months after winning an Oscar, Spanish actor Javier Bardem received a major award in his own country Wednesday for his contribution to Spanish cinema, the culture ministry announced.
Bardem received the 2008 National Cinematography Prize for "the professional goals he has achieved throughout his long career, particularly in 2007, for his defence of the acting profession and for his constant commitment to Spanish cinema, at home and abroad."
The prize "is not only for me but for all members of this profession that I love and that I try to defend day after day," Bardem said.
