Britney Spears's kid sister has baby: report

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — The teenage younger sister of pop star Britney Spears has given birth to a baby girl, sources close to her family told People magazine early Thursday.

Jamie Lynn Spears, who was 16 when she announced her pregnancy last December, provoking a tabloid firestorm in the US about teenage sex, gave birth at a hospital in Mississippi, People reported. "Just the family was there," a source told People. "Everyone is healthy and happy."

Spears's spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Spears, held up as a role model for young teens for her part in the popular US television series "Zoey 101," has named the child Maddie Briann.
