Inter-Palestinian talks positive: Islamic Jihad

GAZA CITY (AFP) — Islamic Jihad representatives held "positive" talks with a delegation from Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas's Fatah party, the Gaza-based radical group said Thursday.

"We held positive discussions," Nafez Azzam, a leader of Islamic Jihad told AFP.

"The Fatah delegation confirmed they wanted to hold dialogue. We hope this dialogue involving Hamas, Fatah and all the Palestinian factions will begin within the next two weeks in Cairo," he added.

The Fatah group travelled to Gaza City via the Israel-Erez border crossing on Tuesday.

The delegation said it had no plans to meet Hamas but would instead hold talks with Gaza-based Fatah leaders and representatives of other Palestinian groups.
