RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) — The heads of the Israeli and Palestinian negotiating teams as well as US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will hold talks on the sideline of a Berlin conference this week, a Palestinian official said on Tuesday.
Wednesday's meeting will focus on efforts to reach an Israeli-Palestinian agreement by year's end, the official said.
The negotiators, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and former Palestinian premier Ahmed Qorei, had last met together with Rice on June 15 when the US official was in the Middle East.
Wednesday's conference on Palestinian security will be attended by 41 countries and is to be followed by a meeting of the Middle East Quartet, which comprises the European Union, Russia, the United Nations and the United States.
