Chacon suspended by Astros

HOUSTON, Texas (AFP) — The Houston Astros suspended righthand pitcher Shawn Chacon indefinitely for insubordination to the club Wednesday.

Chacon, 30, is 2-3 with a 5.04 ERA in 15 starts for the Astros in 2008.

The former all-star expressed his displeasure at being removed from the rotation after struggling in June.

Chacon allegedly became so upset that he physically accosted Astros general manager Ed Wade.

"We have opted to suspend Shawn Chacon for insubordination to the club," Wade said. "I'm not getting into the details. It's an internal matter. We just suspended him a little while ago."
