LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Scott Niedermayer, who took half the National Hockey League season off last year, announced Thursday he will attend this years Anaheim Ducks' training camp.
"I had a great time last season after returning to the team," the 34-year-old Niedermayer said. "I'm excited about having another opportunity to win, and fully expect the team to be competing for another Stanley Cup next spring."
After winning the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2007, Niedermayer missed last year's training camp and did not return to the Ducks until mid-December claiming he was considering retirement. He played in 48 games for the Ducks last season, recording eight goals and 17 assists.
Niedermayer has won four Stanley Cups, including three with the New Jersey Devils.
