Four Russians killed in latest Sudan plane crash

KHARTOUM (AFP) — A cargo plane burst into flames and crashed shortly after takeoff in Khartoum on Monday, killing four Russian crew and narrowly missing homes in Sudan's fourth fatal air accident in two months.
President Omar al-Beshir grounded aircraft of the type involved in the last two crashes, sacked the Civil Aviation Authority boss and ordered an inquiry into recent air disasters that have highlighted poor aviation safety in the sanctions-hit country.
"A cargo plane, which is a Russian plane from the Ababeel cargo company crashed. On board were four crew members who are dead," CAA spokesman Abdel Hafez Abdel Rahim told AFP.
"The four crew members were Russian, no one survived the crash," he said, adding that it was too early to know the cause of the accident.
