Malaysia's Anwar leaves Turkish embassy refuge

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim on Monday left the Turkish embassy where he fled after being accused of sodomy, and filed a lawsuit against his accuser.
Anwar, 60, was accompanied by his wife and daughter as he left the mission where he fled on Sunday saying he feared a government assassination attempt, and insisting the government must guarantee his safety.
"There's no talk of arrest, we will probably take him to his house. The home minister and deputy prime minister have given assurances for his safety. We take that assurance," his lawyer Sankara Nair told AFP.
