'Spiderman' Gutierrez caught in Newcastle web

NEWCASTLE, England (AFP) — Argentina winger Jonas Gutierrez has joined Newcastle United, the English Premiership side announced Wednesday.

The midfielder, who celebrates his 25th birthday on Saturday, has arrived at the northeast side from Spanish club Real Mallorca on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Jonas, nicknamed 'Spiderman' for the mask he puts on for goal celebrations, is set to arrive at St James' Park later this month after a break following Argentina's goalless World Cup qualifier draw against Brazil on June 18.

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan said: "Jonas is a wonderful signing for us.

"I know a lot of other clubs have been interested in him. He will be a terrific addition to the squad.
