Scotland's top music festival serves up T in the Park

KINROSS, Scotland (AFP) — Scotland's biggest music festival kicked off Friday with more than 85,000 revellers expected to gather on a airfield for T in the Park.

REM, Amy Winehouse, The Verve, Rage Against the Machine, Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy are among the acts performing at the three-day event outside the small town of Kinross, about 20 miles (30 kilometres) north of Edinburgh.

Festival organisers opened the campsite a day early Thursday in a bid to beat the traffic congestion seen last year as music lovers make the journey into the Scottish countryside.

T in the Park is in its 15th year and has made its name as one of Europe's top music festivals.
