Braves catcher McCann hurt in collision at plate

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AFP) — Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann left Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies after being shaken up by a collision at home-plate in the sixth inning.

He sustained a mild concussion and is considered day-to-day.

"I didn't have time to react," McCann said. "We hit head-to-head. I've got a headache right now, but I'm going to be all right. I would have done the same thing if I was running."

Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino rounded third base and collided with McCann after Ryan Howard singled to right.

Jeff Francoeur's throw from right field was in time, but the Braves' All-Star catcher couldn't avoid hard contact.
