Winehouse released from hospital after 'reaction to medication'

LONDON (AFP) — Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse was discharged Tuesday after spending a night in hospital because of a reaction to medication, its spokeswoman said.

Winehouse, 24, spent a "comfortable" night at University College Hospital in central London after being rushed to its accident and emergency unit in an ambulance just after 8:40 pm (1940 GMT) Monday.

The Grammy-award-winning "Back To Black" star, who is battling drug and alcohol problems, has suffered a string of health scares since apparently being caught smoking crack cocaine in footage obtained by the Sun newspaper in January.

The following month she spent time in rehab and in June she collapsed at home before being diagnosed with lung condition emphysema.
