American veteran Inkster leads women's British Open

SUNNINGDALE, England (AFP) — American Juli Inkster, the oldest player in the field, shot a flawless seven under par 65 to lead after the first round of the women's British Open.
World number one and reigning champion Lorena Ochoa of Mexico meanwhile opened with a solid 69.
The 49-year-old Inkster set about adding an eighth Major to her outstanding career with a round of five birdies and an eagle at the 273-yard ninth, where she drove the green and holed an 18-foot putt.
Inkster led by a shot from seven players who shared second place -- England's Johanna Head, Americans Stacy Prammanasudh and Laura Diaz, South Koreans Shin Ji-Yai and Oh Ji-Young and the Japanese pair of Momoko Ueda and Yuri Fudoh.
