Judah faces Clottey for vacant welterweight throne

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AFP) — Ghana's Joshua Clottey and American Zab Judah will meet here Saturday for the vacant International Boxing Federation welterweight crown tossed aside by Mexico's Antonio Margarito.

Margarito relenquished the IBF version of the title so he could fight Miguel Cotto for the World Boxing Association crown, which he won last Saturday by stopping the Puerto Rican in the 11th round to inflict his first pro defeat.

With Floyd Mayweather Jnr having retired, the victory left Margarito as the man to beat in the division but Clottey or Judah could stake their claim.

Clottey, 34-2 with 20 knockouts, was the mandatory IBF challenger that Margarito snubbed in favor of Cotto.
