Favre remains in NFL limbo

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (AFP) — Green Bay great Brett Favre remains in National Football League limbo as the league declined to act on the quarterback's petition for reinstatement from retirement.

"The commissioner will not take action today on Brett Favre's request for reinstatement," a league spokesman said Friday. "The Packers and Brett are continuing their discussions."

Multiple media outlets reported Thursday that Favre, a three-time Most Valuable Player, is considering an offer of some 20 million dollars over 10 years from the Packers to stay retired.

Favre is the NFL's all-time leader in several areas, including 442 touchdowns, 5,377 completions, 8,758 attempts, 61,55 yards and 160 triumphs as well as a quarterback NFL record 275 consecutive starts,...
