Cibulkova books WTA Montreal finals berth against red-hot Safina

MONTREAL (AFP) — Unseeded Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova seeks to continue her giant killer form after booking a berth in the WTA Rogers Cup final on Saturday.

Cibulkova, who upset world No. 2 Jelena Jankovic in earlier rounds, beat 10th-seeded Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in a rain-hit semi-final Saturday at Uniprix Stadium.

She next faces Russia's Dinara Safina who punched her ticket to Sunday's final by beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.

Besides shocking Jankovic, Cibulkova beat sixth-ranked Elena Dementieva and No. 12 seed Nadia Petrova en route to the semis.

In her only other final appearance this year, Cibulkova lost to Russian Maria Sharapova at the Amelia Island tournament.
