Carew signs deal at Aston Villa

BIRMINGHAM, England (AFP) — Aston Villa striker John Carew signed a one-year contract extension on Thursday.
Carew, 28, has become a key figure at the Premier League club since his move from Lyon in January 2007 and the Norway international is now contracted to Martin O'Neill's side until 2011.
"Talismanic striker John Carew has handed Villa a pre-season boost by penning a 12-month extension to his current deal," a statement on Villa's website confirmed.
