MANILA (AFP) — Philippine President Gloria Arroyo asked Kuwait to spare the lives of two Filipinos being tried for murder in the Middle Eastern kingdom, a report said Saturday.
Arroyo and Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah met late Friday at the presidential palace.
Arroyo thanked the prime minister for sparing two Filipino workers who were earlier sentenced to death for murder and asked if similar clemency could be extended to the two currently on trial, the Philippine Daily Inquirer said.
However, the Kuwaiti PM said all judicial processes would have to be settled before clemency could be considered, the Inquirer reported.
The leaders also discussed the need for more labourers in Kuwait.
