Glitter leaves Vietnam after child abuse prison term

BANGKOK (AFP) — Former British glam rocker Gary Glitter was heading for London Tuesday after serving a child molestation sentence in a Vietnamese prison, and may not be allowed to leave his home country again.
Glitter left the communist country late Tuesday, travelling to London via Bangkok, an airline official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity. A British minister meanwhile said he would be "controlled" upon his return.
The shamed 1970s showman, clad in blue jeans, a cap, white t-shirt, scarf and tinted glasses, did not speak to journalists on the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, and quickly exited the plane when it landed in the Thai capital, an AFP correspondent said.
