Velodrome to be named after history-maker Hoy

GLASGOW (AFP) — Chris Hoy, who won his third gold at Beijing on Tuesday to equal a 100-year-old British Olympic record, is to have a new national cycling stadium named after him.
The velodrome, which is being built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, will be named in recognition of his Olympic achievements, a Glasgow City Council official said on Tuesday.
"Chris's performances at the Beijing Olympics were simply outstanding and he deserves every recognition," council leader Steven Purcell said.
"I can think of no better way of marking his historic success than by naming Scotland's only world-class track cycling facility after him.
