ROME, Italy (AFP) — Brazilian football star Kaka of AC Milan will miss the start of the Italian football season on August 31, the club's website said Friday.
In May this year, the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year underwent surgery in Brazil to correct a problem with his left knee.
A club statement said: "Professor Martens confirmed that the player's knee is inflammated, and advised him to continue for 15 days with the therapeutic protocol he is following."
The Brazilian playmaker, who arrived in the Serie A club in 2003, agreed in February this year to extend his contract until 2013. AC Milan play Bologna in the first match of the season.
