Gunmen kidnap Israeli in southern Nigeria: police

LAGOS (AFP) — Gunmen kidnapped an Israeli national from his residence in Nigeria's southern oil hub of Port Harcourt, police said Wednesday.
"An Israeli national was abducted in the city yesterday (Tuesday). We are still checking the details of the incident," Rivers state police spokeswoman Rita Abbey told AFP.
Israeli authorities confirmed the incident saying they are doing all they can to secure the release of the man, whose identity has not been released.
"We are doing everything for this case to end as soon as possible and at best, that this man returns home," Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yossi Levi said in Jerusalem.
