MADRID (AFP) — Spain has followed in the footsteps of several other European countries and has extended the football player transfer period by one day until September 1, the Spanish Football Federation said Wednesday.
The transfer period will now end at midnight on Monday since the traditional last day for transfers, August 31, falls on a Sunday this year, it said.
The winter transfer period will run from January 2 until January 30.
The Spanish league will begin its new season this weekend with Real Madrid looking to defend its title.
