TEHRAN (AFP) — Iran has hanged a man convicted of drug trafficking in the northern town of Noshahr, Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
The man identified only by his initials as H.P.A., was executed in a prison on Saturday, Fars said, without giving further details.
The latest hangings bring to at least 182 the number of executions in Iran this year, according to an AFP count.
According to Amnesty International, Iran applied the death penalty more than any other country apart from China last year, executing 317 people.
Capital offences in the Islamic republic include murder, rape, armed robbery, drug trafficking and adultery.
