Kidnapped Israeli released in Nigeria

JERUSALEM (AFP) — An Israeli abducted last week from his house in Nigeria's oil hub of Port Harcourt has been released by his kidnappers, his wife told Israeli public radio on Monday.

"My husband Ehud Avni has been released and will soon return home. He is well and his kidnappers have treated him well," the man's wife, Tzipi, said.

"We don't know under which conditions he was released, but apparently no ransom was paid. It's the result of close cooperation between the Nigerian security services and the (Israeli) foreign ministry," she said.

"Apparently my husband's kidnapping was a mistake and his kidnappers decided to release him," she said.
